Keep the blend mode on Normal. Scale your photo so it fills the window, or scale the border to fit your canvas. The 35mm and 120 borders follow real film proportions, so a photo cropped to 3:2, 1:1 or 5:4 fits without gaps.
Pair a film border with a grain plate and a little dust for a full film scan look.
